About Me & Review Policy

About Me

I’m an Australian blogger who lives in Melbourne, Victoria. I have a feathered terror of a sun conure called Indy (she also likes to drink tea!). My official qualifications are a BA in Literature and Religious Studies, a BS/BioMedS in Biochemistry and Genetics (H1 Honours) and a PhD in Genetics.

I started this blog way back in 2012 because I wasn’t reading all of the novels I was buying. Now, I hardly ever buy books, and receive most of my reading material from publishers and indie authors. I also enjoy the occasional talking book borrowed from my local library.

Review Policy

I accept almost any genre of book for review, non-fiction included. My special interests are in fantasy (Brandon Sanderson, anyone?), queer (LGBTIQA*), young adult, mental health disorders and real-life crime, with a smattering of other genres. I generally do not review short story collections (eh, it’s average), poetry (hate it) or graphic novels (I don’t really appreciate the art enough). I am currently prioritising non-fiction books, particularly ones in business.

I review paperback books only, and I DO NOT ACCEPT EBOOKS. If you would like me to consider your novel for review purposes, please email me at:

thecosydragon (at) gmail (dot) com

I can promise a honest review on this blog and any other sites you may require (GoodReads by default). Links to reviews are also posted on Facebook and Twitter.

I receive novels for no other compensation  other than a free copy of the novels from:

  • Scholastic
  • HarperCollins
  • Allen and Unwin
  • Penguin Random House
  • Pantera Press
  • Macmillan
  • Vivid Publishing
  • Simon and Schuster
  • Harlequin Publishing
  • Text Publishing

  1. Hi again,

I just attempted to contact you a few minutes ago and realised I gave you the wrong email to respond to. If you are interested in giving this book a review, please feel free to respond with the corrected email (the one with .au at the end).

    Cheers yet again,
    Megan

  2. Hi there,

I would like to request a review for my book please.

The book is also on Amazon both kindle and paperback versions – A Human Resources Manager Memoir.

I can email it as well if you like.

    Thanks a lot.

    Regards,

    Sara Elbaroudi

  3. Hi there,

  4. Hi Rose,
I’m from The Sunday Telegraph and we’re looking to run a review of Isobelle Carmody’s Alyzon Whitestarr in our kids’s section this week. She suggested your review. Would it be OK to use an edited (shorter) version of your review in the paper, which would also have a line at the bottom directing people to your review site?

  5. Love to read your review on Broadway Service Boys. It is based on true events recounted by one of the young escort boys, and letting me write it in proxy is the closest he can get to going public and stay safe.
